Planet 8 Creations grew out of something unexpected — a rediscovered passion for making things by hand.
The story starts with Charles, a businessman, a builder, contractor, master woodworker and lifelong member of the Marquetry Society of America. For decades, he turned raw wood into homes and into heirloom pieces — furniture, inlays, and gifts built to outlast trends. That dedication to craft was passed down through generations.
He was also my Grandfather.
In a family of tradespeople, I was the creative, the computer guy, the artist. I watched him when I was younger make these amazing pieces, but it wasn’t until I was older that I truly appreciated it. By that time though, he was gone.
Planet 8 Creations grew out of something unexpected — a rediscovered passion for making things by hand.
Years went by until I decided I wanted to start creating things like he did. I bought a Dremel, started wood carving. Messy, but fun. It wasn’t until 5 years ago when I purchased my first laser engraver that I fell in love with creating again, quickly purchased another and started doing things. I stopped for two years, but after a request to engrave a cutting board for someone and seeing the piece my grandfather made, it all came back. I felt that connection again to my past legacy and my current passion for creating.
That moment became Planet 8 Creations. Today, we’re a complete corporate branding and gifting studio — laser engraving, DTF apparel, full-color drinkware, patches, signs, and gifts — backed by the full resources of Planet 8 Digital, my full service, award winning Digital Marketing Agency.
